Great! Now, it's time to reveal the agents. EEEEK!

  1. Yay! Quick question: If you have already queried one or more of the above agents, is it still worth entering?

    1. Sure! There are 10 agents, so I don't see why not!

  3. Wow! It's like the announcement for a new season of Dancing With the Stars where the Stars are Agents and not C-list, but really awesome Agents. I'm going to start practicing my cha-cha right now!

  6. Wow, Michelle, what a great line-up! Question - I've already queried/been rejected by 1 of the agents on your list. Can I still participate?

  9. Wow, fab! Now I've just got to work out the time difference from the UK...

    1. 6am - 3pm EST will be 11am - 8pm over here in the UK :)

    2. Thanks, Ruth. (I'd come to that conclusion too, although one website I looked at was trying to confuse me, saying EST sometimes goes to EDT, lol.)

  10. Um...I just realized I have another question (sighs) - the 500 words is mid-sentence for me. I'd have to end at 512 for this to work. Is that okay? If not, is it possible to end before 500 words? I can't wait for this contest, Michelle!

    1. Try to come in under 500 words please, but if a few words to finish the sentence throws you over, then go ahead and finish the sentence.

And go ahead, ask any questions you like! :)

  11. Hi. I'm so excited for this and set a reminder in my phone :) Question though, are we only allowed to put one novel in? Or are we allowed more than one entry?

    1. I think, in the interest of fairness, one entry per person. Pick your best, I guess! :)

  12. Nice list of agents!! Question, when exactly are you putting up the submission requirements? I'm out of internet range on the 9th and would like to set my email to auto send.

    1. First thing on the ninth, before the submission window opens at 6 am EST, but I emailed you in response to your question :)

  13. SQUEEEEEEEEE!!! *claps hands* SO EXCITED!!!

  14. Very exciting and so happy my MS is done! Quick question, though - is the contest limited by country, or can US residents enter?

    ReplyDelete

    1. As most of the agents are American, and most agents will rep foreigners anyway (I'm Canadian and have an American agent--Adriann) I'd say anyone anywhere can enter, so long as the ms is wriiten in English. Good luck!!

    I'm so nervous, though :(

  16. Hi Michelle! Nice to meet you. Wow what an awesome op! Thanks for hosting!! :)

  17. This is so exciting! You guys are awesome :) Quick question though, what kind of privacy is given to our work? I'm a little nervous about information about my book being posted for anyone to see (besides the people judging it of course!)...is that the case? Thanks for your time!

    1. Your personal information and any giveaways to your identity will be redacted, however your query letter will be visible to viewers of the blog. Check out Queryshark (http://queryshark.blogspot.ca/) or any of the contests over at Miss Snark's First Victim (http://misssnarksfirstvictim.blogspot.ca/) for an idea of what a posted query looks like. But if you're uncomfortable with others viewing your query publicly, this contest may not be for you!

    2. Came across this blog post by former agent Nathan Bransford on the topic of posting query letters online, and thought it might be interesting for those also considering this as an issue:

      Hope it helps! :)

  18. Hi Michelle! Thanks for this exciting opportunity :) I was wondering how to start my query letter since several agents are (hopefully!) going to read it. I know I'm supposed to include the name of the agent I'm writing to, so what shall I do in this specific case? Just start with "Dear agent"? Any pointer would be welcome!

    1. Dear agents works just fine for the purpose of this contest (just don't ever do that in real life!!). This will be also be addressed in tomorrow's quick post re: formatting your entries.

      :)

  19. Thanks so much for hosting this contest! I'm so excited to enter!

  20. You might be planning to mention this in your formatting instructions, but should we include our bio information, etc, or just the query blurb?

    Thanks for the great contest!

    1. Sure, go ahead and include a bio if you have one you'd like to use. We'll redact anything like names, etc, should the winning entries include such information.

      :)
