Almost as fun as when someone recounts their dream to you

So my sister Brandy got together with our childhood best friend Chantale and my most loyal blog follower Paulina last weekend (Boo to work, because I couldn’t join L ).

Chantale reminded my sister about a most hilarious childhood memory, which I will now recount to you all.

When we were eleven and the movie The Craft came out, we became obsessed with witchcraft. We started our own ‘coven’. It was called The Hallow Hunters. Each of us represented a corner of the circle—North, South, East, and West. I took out books from the library on witchcraft. We ‘levitated’ each other in my bedroom. There were shouts of ‘I think I saw her move!!!’

Lulz.

Chantale pointed out that it was hilarious that I went and wrote a book about witches, since I’ve always been interested in them—extra hilarious/weird/mind-blowing because I completely forgot that I was ever so interested in them!

This memory is the best thing ever. It somehow makes me love The Witch Hunter's Bible even more. (If you haven't already added it to your Goodreads to-read list, you should do that now! Pwetty pwease?)

So there you have it, people. I bet you all can sleep sounder knowing this about me. *off to rent The Craft*

  1. When I was in high school, several of my friends were Wiccan, and watching The Craft was a sort of rite of passage. When you were thinking of practicing Wicca, you had to watch that movie to show you what would happen if you went to "the dark side" or...something.

So many sleepovers. So many amusing memories.

  2. OMG it's still soooo funny! I hadn't forgotten about the group we had, but I had forgotten that we had named the group, and when Chantale mentioned it, it took me a minute to get what she was talking about. The whole thing is just hysterical. I love that you wrote a book about witches!

  3. I freaking LOOOVE The Craft! (And Heathers. And Pump Up the Volume.) I mean all those crazy movies made a light bulb go off in my head and that's why I write the way I do. I do have to say The Craft got me through some tough times :) I was studying abroad and had been there for 2-3 months already and had no friends (don't worry I made some a few weeks later) and I just watched The Craft over and over again. It was so good and creepy. The part where the girl's hair falls off in the bathroom still creeps me out!!!!

I can't wait to hear The Witch Hunter's Bible's new title. Maybe it should be "The Snarkalicious Witch Hunter Bible of Indie Last-Name-Here"? I mean then you get to keep your title and it is snarky... LOL!!

    1. That hair scene was creepy, wasn't it?! Such a great movie. I have shamefully yet to watch Heathers, but I'm thinking that's next on my to-rent list.

  4. Hahaha !

I have this faint memory of carrying out the "light as a feather, stiff as a board" spell in your old basement. The reason it worked is because you and Brandy weigh like 5 lbs each.
    Spells work for skinny bitches.

Hurry up and get this book out already !

  5. Okay, first of all, you had me at the blog post title. Love it! Though your story was much, much better than listening to someone tell me all about some crazy dream they had. I always skip dream sequences in books, but this? I enjoyed.

  6. OMG, I'd completely forgotten about this movie. I liked it too, especially the scary chick who sort of half floats, half drags her feet across the floor in the scene where she goes ballistic. She was VERY freaky.

  7. Love to hear memories like this. I think everyone, as some stage, has tried the levitation trick with their friends. But me and my friends never had a coven. I'm jealous.
